Swedish/Swiss Architecture & Sweet Finds

Okay, I haven't been very good about posting as of late. There's quite a bit of hubub going on in the life of Shelby at the moment, what with going off to college and all.

Here's my top 5 things to take off to college with you:

1.} Bianchi Acne bike, $1500, from Acne Studios
2.} Fjallraven Kanken Swiss rucksack, £33.99, available at Fjallraven.com
3.}Macbook handmade cover by blytheking at Etsy, $45, available at Etsy
4.}Macbook in white by Apple, $999, from You-Know-Where ;)
5.}Vintage alarm clock by BibbysRocket at Etsy, $19.75, available at Etsy

And now on to some things I've been dying to put up on here. I recently found a furniture company that makes the most amazing pieces of furniture!

The company is called Modernica. Here's a few of my favourites:

Also I've been just enthralled lately by Swedish architecture. The lines and draping and placement of everything is really unlike anything I've seen before, and it stands out to me.

Well lovelies I do believe that's it for today. I'll be back in a little bit to show you more goodies.

Happy late 4th of July!

Always,
Shelby

Got the Hunger Again

So this morning I was browsin' around the internet for some clothes/shoes/accessories, and ohhh boy was that a mistake.

I now have the all-encompassing urge to go out and spend all my money on new shoes, etc. But I'm sure the hunger will go away eventually...just not today ;)

I am such a sucker for MaryJanes, but these are so delicate and adorable I'm going to have to get them. You can buy them atURBANOUTFITTERS.COM.

Also, my great friend Melie has an Etsy that I've sadly neglected until today- she makes these super cute "upcycled" necklaces that are to dieeeeeeee for... here's a few :)

"Simple Summer Elegance"

Adorable, right?!? I'm lucky to have such a talented friend. She also just started a blog recently, called Thrifting Machine, which I will (attempt to) design in days to come.

goodies & knick-knacks & 99 cent wonders

here's a few little things i picked up this week from various places.

1.} soap holder & cute shell-shaped soap from the 99 cent store. goes great in my bathroom with all the gorgeous yellow light. also got that little pink and white porcelain doodad, which i keep hairties in

2.} my much-ado treasure chest! when i got this thing it was brown and black, and it took forever to paint but it was the best 5 dollars i ever spent at a garage sale and im proud. i keep letters inside it :)

3.} the little egg-looking thing is an oil burner, that i got at wal mart for three dollars. with a little help from some spray paint and a tester tube from home depot, it now matches the rest of my house- it was black before.

4.} this is a plastic soap holder that came with the soap i got. it was originally white- until i had anything to do with it ;) i plan to somehow attach it to the front of my treasure chest as a clasp to complete the under-the-sea vibe it has.

5.} i got each of these ADORABLE little pots from the 99 cent store as well, and the little packets of seeds were only ten cents! im totally home-growing carrots from now on.

this morning i was browsing around for a picture of a cherry blossom to use for my new tattoo, and i stumbled upon this gorgeous little diddy. its a silk fan used in this instance as a wedding favor, which i think is adorable. you can buy them here

well that about wraps it up, and ive got to be getting ready for fathers day party at moms house

analog party

so as you may know, analog TV died the other day. to commemorate this loss, my coworkers and myself held an "analog party" in which we all sat around a tiny little foot by foot (more or less) TV and watched the news turn into a sad, dead blizzard.

its a little too big brother for my liking, the fact that we all have to do things one way to watch television. all digital n what/not, its very sad to me. in any case i took a bunch of pictures so have a looksee.

this is eli, our resident office cat, rubbin all up on my work tray on my desk. he is naturally hairless, despite isaac telling all our customers we had to shave him because he has "kitty cancer"

this is my uncle, who i work with, being a doucher for the camera. and my wonderful exposure technique.

nomz

jon, being a doucher for the camera.

this is eli contemplating the loss of an era.

josh "bushy" being a total ese, as always. he has a tattoo on the back of his neck that says "try me 69" in a very pretty cursive font. earlier that day, he smashed me into a warehouse wall on a chair with wheels.

this is the exact moment analog tv died forever. either that or the news said "goodbye" and proceeded on about a story of a blizzard...on the brink of summer

in other news, i made a pizza from scratch (apart from the dough) the other night, and here are some pictures. i took pictures of a pizza.

in the works

and done! added a lil salad to the side with some caesar dressing. om nom nom

also today i got a small treasure chest for 5 bucks and its currently drying right now on my hifi. i painted it ivory with gold straps and enclosures & its looking very cute. ill have pictures up soon of before & after. in the meantime, here is a little doodad i painted

i got this pot from target for like 5 bucks and it was scarlet red and glazed. i painted it "pineapple sorbet" and then did the stripes later on in "vintage yellow." this is the pot i keep my orchids in :)

grand opening

so this is my first entry and i must admit im quite excited to get the ball rolling on this blog. i have so many things id like to share with anyone who will take a peek :)

first of all, ive been decorating my apartment very diligently recently and i have much to show for it.

here are some pictures/captions to show you a little slice of my life at the moment.

i bought this lamp stand and shade for approximately 15 dollars at the mart of wal, and i bought those little terra cotta pots for a dollar a piece at home depot, and sprayed them with white spray paint. the plantlife is irish moss, which i also got at home depot for 12 dollars a tray.

i got this serving platter at cosco, and it was originally like this really horrid rust colour, so (naturally) i spray painted it gold and now it looks radical.

here is a little corner of my living room, which is apparently collecting grounds for all my shoes as well. the container on top of the coffee table with brown liquid in it is tea. i've been using it to dye newspapers to make them look antique for various projects.

this is my little coat rack/mail carrier dealy that i LOOOVE, its so handy. and adorable! it hangs right next to the door, so i keep my perfume in a little slot and spray whenever i go out :)

theeeeeeeeese are a part of a set of new fine bone china i got for cheap! i love them, theyre so simple and elegant. i couldnt help but go and buy new wine glasses to match.

im not kidding when i tell you i spray paint everything. this incense holder was once brown, then i spray painted it white, and then i painted it "vintage yellow" with a little tester paint tube i got at home depot and now it is adorable. before it had little moons and stars on it and since i dont wear patchouli, i didnt think it was appropriate for my taste.

this is the little paint tester tube i got. it was three bucks at home depot and theres actually quite a bit of paint in there, and in the cutest colours as well. if youre looking to paint something small on a budget, get this stuff. its fantastic.

so, that will be all for my first post and i hope you enjoyed. there is much more to come so stay tuned :)

lots of love
